Rules of the Guild The Roleplay Rules of Engagement (ROE) What is the purpose of these rules? - To provide a set of guidelines so that "at war" status and "orange highlighting" are not abused by role-players. Who are these rules for? - Anyone who highlights ORANGE is required to follow the Rules of Engagement. Role-players may also highlight other colors, but if they wish to roleplay with us, we expect them to follow the Rules of Engagement. Additionally, they should make an effort to gain ORANGE highlighting. Rule #1. You must Roleplay your character. Rule #2. Combat (A) Verbal Warning is to be given prior to any combat, and the consciousness of the character being warned must be established (i.e. do not attack logged out characters). (B) Players can not be forced to engage in player vs. player combat. If the victim refuses player vs. player combat, the aggressor may chose a reasonable alternative, possible examples include (but are not limited to) (i) demanding reasonable tribute or ransom from the victim (ii) taking the victim prisoner (iii) forcing the victim to leave the area (C) A participant in combat may choose to end the combat by emoting "*CEASE*" (NOTE: This is an OLD RULE , and SOME guilds may choose NOT to follow this rule!) if he/she notices that there is a strong real potential for third party looting or if one of the participants received aid from a BLUE player. Note that due to game dynamics, sometimes combat may not end (lost connections, lag, spam-reduction code, etc.) (D) Neutral ground where no conflict or alternatives may occur includes Banks Unless otherwise stated. (E) A hearty effort should be made to make sure that the non-looted items of the dead are returned to their possession as soon as possible. (F) The newly resurrected when returning to his corpse is to be considered still dead in a roleplay context. This person should remain in death robe, gather his things, leave the area without talking, and not participate in that battle any further. (30 min timelimt of "dead" status, unless noted otherwise) Rule #3. Stealing. (A) Items of extreme value that would take more than a reasonable effort to replace are not to be stolen. Examples include deeds and keys. Rule #4. Lootable items There is to be NO LOOTING Of any Role-player in a Role-played combat. Do not even peek at the corpse for it will show up on forensics, and this will avoid any argument of something looted that may, or may not have been there. ANY violation of this rule will result in dismissal from the Guild. Any Rules of Engagement, whether permanent or temporary, agreed upon by two guildmasters will take precedence over these rules as long as those two guilds do not violate the Rules of Engagement with other guilds. Violations of the Rules of Engagement are to be handled by the guildstone guildmasters of those involved. If a resolution can not be reached immediately, "peace" may be declared on the guildstone until a resolution that is satisfactory to both sides, and arrangements to avoid future such situations, have been decided upon. |
